Too Busy To Exercise Are You?
By: Gen Wright
Have you heard about the new disease in our modern world called 'busyness'? Its symptoms range from fatigue,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], lack of quality sleep to not having enough time to exercise and eat properly. This disease is caused by too much working, doing and giving to everyone else but you.
The people that are inflicted with this condition are always in constant motion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pulled in many different directions at once, eating on the run, barely allowing time to connect with anyone. This busyness affects all areas of a person's life causing suffering not only to themselves, but their spouses and children, their friends, their parents and even their pets.
We tend to admire these people as they are able to handle heavy work loads and we place a high value on ones ability to get more done in less time. But to achieve this we have to neglect our own needs and many of the things we are so busy doing are not the ones that will serve us well. Health, fitness and weight loss goals can go by the wayside yet they are important and it can cause stress, anxiety and frustration when those goals have to be put on the back burner more often than not.
The single most frequent reason (excuse) why people do not engage in a program of proper exercise is they don't have time. But when we say "I don't have time to exercise" what we really are saying is "I don't place enough importance on my health to make time for my exercise sessions". It is no one else's fault if you have jam packed each day so full of stuff that you have no time left to take care of your own fitness and weight loss needs.
Making time to exercise is never about time, it is about priorities. There are people all over the world even busier than you exercising right now. Are you not aware that a proper exercise program that builds and maintains your muscle strength is not just about looking good or losing weight? It is about protecting yourself from disease and avoiding an early death
Strength training exercise that works the muscular system is the only way of stimulating 'growth and repair' hormones that keep your entire body strong and healthy including your immune system. When you are not working your muscles regularly fats and sugars in the blood stream do not get burnt up for energy and instead hang around and end up in places where they should not be causing damage to tissues and organs.
You do not want to awaken in mid life and find your health has declined to a poor state, your weight has risen to unhealthy levels, your strength siphoned away and your energy levels reduced to the point you cannot enjoy life to the fullest.
So I hear you saying "how do I get from the 'too busy' place to a proper exercise program?" The quickest and easiest way is to spend a few dollars and buy some time with a fitness coach who can fast track both the learning of exercise techniques and teach you the intensity (degree of effort) needed for a proper exercise program to be effective and safe. This means time spent doing it can be reduced and results maximized.
If you put the necessary effort into your program just 2-3 times each week it will be the only exercise program that you will need to do. Strength training is so effective that only a little is needed to build and maintain precious strength and performed at the right level with give you plenty of 'cardio' fitness as well.
Keep reminding yourself of the big picture when you take time out of your busy day to exercise and eat right. We all need to make self care a priority as we are all living busy stressful lives. But you will never hea
