Post subject: retro jordan 7 The Girl Who Played With Fire Movie
With Millennium magazine editor Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) the only person who believes her innocence
AirMax 2011
, Salander begins her own investigation, hunting for a mysterious individual known only as "Zala." As a massive German thug with a strange talent starts dogging her footsteps, Salander begins to discover who was really responsible for the killings, and a secret that cuts very close to home . . .
Rumour has it that Hollywood plans to remake this film for American audiences: if this is true, any smart casting director will save himself a lot of trouble and simply book Noomi Rapace on a flight to Los Angeles.
Unlike most Hollywood fare – which seems like it was edited by a chipmunk wired on Jolt Cola – The Girl Who Played With Fire unrolls at a more leisurely pace; a nice change. However, this film could have used a 30-minute edit. While it's commendable that the filmmakers wanted to keep much of Larsson's novel intact, audiences may find the 129 minute running time a bit much.
The Girl Who Played With Fire gets a 3/5.
At nearly two hours, this film really could have used ye olde quarter-inch trim to remove the unnecessary fat. That said

Best New Thriller Movie DVD Releases for July 2010
It's that rare sequel that supersedes the original (Toy Story 3, notwithstanding), which limits The Girl Who Played With Fire's appeal right away.
That said, there are no times where you're checking your watch: this film knows how to keep its audience. It's a lot more graphic and less titillating in its subject matter than most Hollywood thrillers; the film is not trying to be exploitative, it's offering insight into what makes the various characters the way they are.
Originally produced as a quickie follow-up to the surprise hit The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, it requires that you be familiar with the late Stieg Larsson's original novel in order to make sense. That said, it's a solid thriller that doesn't reach the heights of its predecessor.
However, there are some revealing mistakes. According to the film, someone who cannot feel pain isn't affected by a Taser blast. Unfortunately, real life doesn't quite work that way, folks.
When Goth computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) returns to Sweden after a year's absence, she immediately finds herself the lead suspect in three homicides. Her corrupt guardian Nils Bjurman (Peter Andersson) – plus a journalist and his student girlfriend whose upcoming magazine article on prostitution and human trafficking implicates several highly-placed members of Swedish society – were shot with the same pistol, and Salander's fingerprints are on the gun.
As the fierce yet vulnerable Lisbeth, Noomi Rapace owns this film from beginning to end, creating a highly compelling, complex heroine. Such an emotionally withdrawn, obsessive-compulsive, often violent personality should be easy to dislike but Rapace negotiates the contradictions of her character beautifully: Lisbeth is sexy without being alluring, lovable without being loving.
