The second Asia-Pacific Service Outsourcing International Conference will be held from Sept 17 to 18 in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, the organizer said.
About 300 representatives will attend the forum, including chief information officers (CIO) of the top 500 companies in the world,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], prestigious software producers at home and abroad, according to the organizer.
Concurrently, the first Cross-Straits Service Outsource Cooperation Forum will also be held in the city, which could attract a further 200 representatives.
The service sector is the pillar industry in Taiwan, accounting for over 70 percent of the island's total GDP.
With the trend of the manufacturing industry now transferring from Taiwan to the Chinese mainland, the service industry in Taiwan is also actively seeking opportunities to cooperate with their peers on the Chinese mainland.
As a city, Wuxi is aiming to become one of the largest service-outsourcing bases in the world.
Amid the economic downturn the service outsourcing business in the city remained robust. In the first seven months,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the total contract amount reached about $1.14 billon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], up 110 percent year-on-year.
So far,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Wuxi has lured about 22 investment projects from the top 100 service outsourcing companies in the world and top 50 industry heavyweights in the country.
As for the top 10 industry heavyweights in the country, half have set up headquarters in Wuxi.
According to the local governments' development plan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Wuxi intends to increase the total revenue of the service outsourcing industry from $30 billion to $40 billon by 2020, with over 1 million people employed.
This goal is similar to the industry's development level seen in India in 2007.
